Knee pain is very common and often due to injury or overuse. In the majority of cases with good advice and self management the pain will settle without the need to see your GP.

The knee joint is an incredibly strong structure and the majority of pain is not caused by long term structural damage. Knee pain can be more common as you get older or if you are overweight. Sports that involve a lot of twisting such as football, skiing and netball have an increased risk of injuries.
